I am a lifelong Alaskan and 3rd generation homesteader. I grew up and have lived my life exploring the Alaskan wild. Alaska will always be in my blood, but after a lifetime of brutally cold and dark winters (it's bad, guys), I now spend winters in Oahu with Amber, the love of my life. I met Amber in the Oahu hiking community, and now, I have an adventure partner who loves the mountains every bit as much as I do.

And that's where you come in!

I picked up my first camera in high school. I have always loved shooting landscapes and nature in general. Up until about 8 years ago, I didn't have much interest in shooting people. Then, I became the photographer for my MMA gym. I quickly realized the best shots weren't about people getting submissions - they were about capturing the connections people made with each other and the emotional moments they shared.

Hiking has always been a passion of mine, and around the same time I started shooting for the gym, I began including people in my hiking photos. I went from taking virtually nothing but nature photos to taking almost nothing but photos with people. When I found out I could make a living capturing meaningful human connections while celebrating our love of nature, I realized I had finally found my dream job in adventure elopement photography.

I like to shoot mostly candids with minimal prompts. I may give you a little direction at times, but too much direction, and people tend to look and feel awkward. Chances are, you're not actors or models, so the best way to get natural, genuine looking photos is to give minimal direction and let you do what feels comfortable and real to you.

You shouldn’t spend your wedding day hoping you can pose exactly the way a photographer wants you to pose. You should be thinking about the celebration of your love and enjoying the amazing adventure you’re on that day.

So, will I give you static, complicated poses? No. Will I ask one of you to give the other a piggy back ride? Maybe. Let's see where the day takes us!

Don't like stiff poses?
Cool, me neither!

I don’t use purchased presets (essentially, a photo filter) for editing. So many photographers don’t even know how to create their own look or tweak the presets they have. They buy presets that will give their photos the same look as everyone else. In photo groups, I'm constantly hearing, "What preset did you use?"

How do you expect to get the best editing from a photographer that doesn’t even understand their software well enough to create their own look?

My look is my own -
Not someone else's presets
